na ja, es handelt sich hier ja nun wirklich nicht um eine NamensÃ¤nderung!

Hier liegt doch nur eine international gebrÃ¤uchliche, andere Schreibweise unseres deutschen Umlauts "Ã¶" als "oe" vor, die z. B. gelegentlich aufgrund der verwendeten Datenbank-Software verwendet werden muÃŸ, wenn diese SW keine nationalen Sonderzeichen wie bspw. im Deutschen die drei Umlaute und das "ÃŸ" oder diverse franzÃ¶sische Akzent-Vokale akzeptiert.

NaÃ¼rlich stÃ¶rt dies etwas bei der Suche ...

Dears here there is some details which confirm trace of units:

" ... In January, 1945, the Division was pushed into Slovakia, and from there it was moved North to the Pommerania area where it onve again saw action attempting to hold the Soviets back. Soon after, the 4th SS was moved to Danzig where it was trapped by Soviet forces. After dire battle the Division was shipped across the Hela Peninsula and over sea to Swinemude. From there, the Division rested, and then moved to postion itself to surrender to the Americans near Wittenberge-Lenzen. ..."

I know that some of 4 SS Panzer Grenadieren moved behind river Oder near Stettin.

See here is confirmation that soldiers from unit of your uncle also died near Stettin - this is soldier from the same unit like your uncle - probably .

In this case is big chance that your uncle could also be KIA arround Stettin on Pommeren.

We are sure that some of 4.SS-Polizei-Panzergrenadier-Division fought here arround Stettin in 1945 and some of them was found here by collegues from "Pomorze1945".

SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 8 was also arround Stettin (near Oder river) , please have a look some information from the literature (Polish version):
