My unknown German grandfather stationed in northern Norway during WW2
He had a child with a Norwegian woman (my grandmother). We have no idea where he was stationed after leaving Skjervøy in northern Norway, but he left Norway in 44-45 (????) I've tried looking online but can't find any trace of him. He was in his 30 + / - when my mother was born.
My late grandmother did not talk much about him, but se told me that he died in the war front. As I can remember she told me he was a Colonel!

My mother is convinced that it is Oscar Blank born 1905, for she had been told that he was in his late 30's or something when my mother was born in 45 '. If that's the case the 1905'Oskar were 40 years old when he had to leave.
Do you know if there are any opportunities to get in contact with, or find out if there are any descendants of Oscar Blank. It would also be great if it was possible to determine if this Oscar Blank was stationed at Skjervoy in northern Norway during the war.

I think, it's vital to request the "Deutsche Dienststelle" in Berlin. I have sent you the link in english language above. There you may find the answers to your questions. Please ask exactly for the military CV of Oskar Blank - then you may see if he was stationed in Skjervoy. It's also important to inform this authority about your relationship to Oskar Blank - otherwise it could be difficult to get information about him. The answer may take a time of nearly 12 months!
