I wrorte ". . . if he was member of the anti-aircraft artillery. . . ", his rank would be "Kanonier".

To ask them if they have information of that time.

And also I have written the Dutch Institute of War Documents, and ask them information too.

But that could take some time to get any answers.

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe in der Zwischenzeit noch einmal mit dem holländischen "Weltkriegsexperten" gesprochen und er hält für möglich, daß mein Großvater in der 16. Felddivision (L) gewesen sein könnte. Diese ist im Juni 1944 nach Frankreich gegangen und war vorher in Scheveningen. Meine Tante hatte auch von Scheveningen gesprochen (ich hatte ihr nicht richtig geglaubt). Scheveningen ist in der Nähe von Voorburg (Den Haag), wo meine Großmutter lebte. Auf der Seite www.hogendoorncollection.com kann man sehen, daß deutsche Soldaten in Scheveningen und Den Haag waren.
Die Signatur auf dem Photo "29.VI.1944" könnte bedeuten, daß mein Großvater sich von meiner Großmutter mit diesem Photo verabschiedet hat, weil er nach Frankreich mußte. Was allerdings dagegen spricht, ist, daß in einer Quelle im Internet davon die Rede ist, daß die Division bereits Mitte Juni nach Frankreich ging ??

Hat jemand die Möglichkeit, in die Vermißtenbildliste der 16. Felddivision (L) zu schauen? Oder wo kann ich diese finden?

Ich habe noch einmal alle befragt, die etwas wissen könnten. Es heißt, daß sein Name wohl Gerhard Haack (vielleicht auch Haak) war (ohne Heinrich). Und daß er aus einem kleinen Dorf in der Nähe von Berlin kam!!!!

Ich habe ja nur das ungefähre Geburtsdatum (1924 wie die Großmutter). Soll ich trotzdem noch einmal an die WASt schreiben?

I am quite sure that the photograph shows my father.

He was born in 1924 and died in 1987. I know that he was in the Netherlands during the war. In 1944 he was based in France. On the second or third day of the allied invasion he was captured. Then he was a prisoner of war in Colorado/Camp Greely. After that time he had to serve as a civil worker (?) in France. In the late forties he went back to Germany and setteled down in Celle/Lower Saxony.

I was born in 1966 and his third child an I hope, that we can meet.

He often talked about his (first) girlfriend from the Netherlands.

My grandfather was older on the photo but he have the same eyes.

mein Bruder Thomas rief mich an und erzählte mir von seinem zufälligen Fund bei Google. Er hat mich sofort überzeugt. Auch ich teile seine Ansicht. Es ist unglaublich - so viele Zufälle kann es nicht geben. Auch muss ich noch weiter gehen. Die Ähnlichkeit der Fotos spring einen förmlich an.

Außerdem habe ich auf der Rückseite meines Fotos eine Unterschrift meines Vaters gefunden. Bitte schau selbst.
